What’s better than having a furry cuddly best friend? Let me tell you what; a free supply of beer while cuddling with your new furry friend.
Due to the pandemic, animal shelters were forced to close their doors to the public to avoid COVID-19. However, the pandemic does not stop the animals from being abandoned. In fact, the case of animal abandonment has risen during the pandemic and is continuously rising.
Though the animal shelters are trying to take as many animals as they can, it’s only a matter of time until their spaces become full and there will be no more place for other abandoned animals.
Thus, a US beer brand thought of a solution and teamed up with a local animal shelter.
The idea is to help people affected by this pandemic that suffers through anxieties.
Busch, a US beer brand has come up with a scheme to help the abandoned dogs at a local animal shelter find a family amidst the pandemic.
The idea is to help people affected by this pandemic that suffers through anxieties because of what is happening in today’s world and at the same time provide home to shelter dogs.
A Busch spokesperson said;
During these uncertain and lonelier times, people need an escape: cue the cute puppy memes and photos. But as much as we need those cute puppy pics to help get us through social distancing, it’s actually them who need us. Social distancing is better with a furry friend and a cold beer in your hand.

In order to qualify, applicants must be 21 years old and above and a US resident adopting or fostering a dog through Midwest Animal Rescue. The recipients will receive a confirmation email from the animal shelter in which they should forward to Busch via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
The dogs are family and not just a ticket for free beers.
The first 500 people to enter will receive a $100 prepaid debit card that can be used to buy three months’ worth of beer.
The project has gained multiple reactions on social media, mainly grateful but some also warned people who are only interested in getting free beers or jumping on the bandwagon and joining the hype. People both on Twitter and Instagram expressed their happiness when the company announced the “Foster a dog, get a beer” scheme.
However, some social media users warned people that dogs are forever and not just for free beers and COVID-19. They warned the people who are interested in adopting or fostering those dogs that they are family and not just a ticket for free beers and that they should be a responsible owner.
The hashtag Adopt don’t shop has then resurfaced after Busch announced their program to encourage people not to buy from breeders but to adopt dogs from shelters.
Help them find a forever home.
Dogs are family. They are not for presents, free beers or a temporary companion for pandemic.
They need us now more than ever as the animal abandonment rises. Foster a dog; help them find a forever home. Contact your local animal shelter, even without the beers. It may be a small thing for you, but to an abandoned dog, it’s everything.
